Lifecycle Software’s EBC LCR platform is designed for telecommunications operators who have interconnects with multiple, geographically widespread BT exchanges and who wish to optimise their interconnection with BT in order to reduce the EBC-based costs incurred for use of BT’s termination and transit services. The platform enables operators to identify and report on sub-optimal routing patterns in the traffic that they send to BT across existing interconnects, and to model and report on the most cost-efficient alternative routes, thus giving them the information they need to optimise their routing plans and interconnect planning.
The platform makes use of the network and charging information in BT’s monthly, terminating Element Based Charging (EBC) matrix. A key feature of the system is the flexibility that it offers to the user to control the set of POIs (points of interconnect) that are to be considered in the routing analysis process. So the operator might choose to restrict the set of POIs for consideration to their actual POIs with BT, ensuring that only the subset of the EBC matrix that relates to those POIs is examined. Alternatively, the operator might wish to expand the set of POIs by adding ‘theoretical’ or non-interconnected POIs, in order to test and evaluate alternative network configurations for the routing of given NNGs (national number groups). This modelling capability is one of the key strengths of the system and is controlled by an intuitive and easy-to-use interface.
- least cost ‘look up’ report: a monthly report on an agreed number of the most optimal routes, by NNG, using the monthly EBC matrix
- snapshot routing report: a report on sub-optimal routing patterns, by NNG, in actual interconnect traffic switched between an operator and BT (production of this report requires access to an operator’s call data records). This report is used to show the actual route taken and an agreed number of alternative, more cost-efficient routes. The set of POIs from which alternative routes are selected is controlled by the user.
The results of all least cost routing analyses, together with tailored views of all other data sets held in the system, are presented as reports through Lifecycle’s powerful reporting tool, DataExkavator.
Lifecycle’s EBC LCR solution can be offered as a managed service. Alternatively, a copy of the software can be purchased under licence. Full user documentation and training is available.
